Meet Chris Canales, our certified surf and stand-up paddle instructor, and an open water lifeguard. Hailing from the beautiful beach town of Playa del Coco, Guanacaste, his lifelong passion for surfing began at a young age, and he has been conquering the waves of Costa Rica's stunning coasts ever since.

 

Having grown up surfing the coasts of Costa Rica, Chris has developed advanced skills and expertise in the sport, making him a highly skilled and experienced surfing professional. With a focus on three key values: patience, technique, and safety, Chris's philosophy is centered around providing a safe and enjoyable learning experience for his students.

 

In addition to his expertise in surfing and stand-up paddleboarding, Chris is also experienced in leading land tours and sport fishing expeditions. As a local of the Playa del Coco area, he has extensive knowledge of the surrounding terrain and can guide you on hikes and nature walks to explore the region's diverse flora and fauna turning a simple hike into an educational and engaging exploration. Additionally, Chris can tailor each adventure to suit your fitness level and interests, ensuring that everyone in your group has a great time.
